Privacy
Tasting is a private notebook for wine tastings. This page says what it keeps, who can see it and what you can do about it.
What it keeps
- Your email address and, through the sign-in service, your password (stored hashed, never readable by the app).
- Everything you record: tasting sheets, written notes, guesses and scores, and the label photos you add.
- A count of the AI requests you make each month (not their content), to keep within the monthly allowance.
Who can see it
Only you, when you are signed in. Other people with accounts cannot see your tastings, photos or scores. The person who runs the service can technically reach the database and photo storage in order to keep it working and will not look at your tastings without a reason you would agree with, such as helping you fix a problem.
AI features
When you tap Read label, Compare, Explain the differences or Fill sheet from my note, the content needed for that request (a label photo, or the wine's details and your sheet or note) is sent to Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI model, to produce the answer. Nothing is sent unless you tap one of those buttons. See Anthropic's own privacy policy for how it handles that data.
Where it is stored
The app runs on Fly.io and the database and photos are held by Supabase, both in Sydney, Australia. Your email address also passes through Resend, the email service that sends the sign-up and password-reset messages; its sending servers are in Tokyo, Japan.
Your choices
- Download everything you have recorded, and delete your account and all of it, from the Account page.
- Deleting a single tasting removes it from your lists straight away.
